During these unprecedented times, everything is changing, and internship programs are no exception. Prior to COVID-19, we interviewed Madeline and Ryan. Once we understood that we would be working remotely – likely through spring and into summer – we reached back out to see if they were up for the challenge of a remote internship. To their credit, they enthusiastically agreed. And they never looked back. Today, not only are Madeline and Ryan learning about working in a B2B marketing agency, they are actively contributing and adding value through research and helping with digital tactics.
We are pleased to introduce Madeline and Ryan and encourage you to follow along this summer on Instagram as they share some behind-the-scenes learning and more.
Please meet Madeline and Ryan.
Madeline
As a rising Junior at University of Wisconsin – Madison (go Badgers!), I am pursuing a major in marketing with minors in Spanish, digital studies, and dance. My fascination with both the creative and analytical aspects of marketing originally sparked my interest. I have broadened my understanding of marketing within the business world through my affiliation and leadership roles with Women in Business, an on-campus organization dedicated to empowering women through personal and professional connections.
Aside from marketing, I am passionate about dance and the performing arts. My extensive training in various styles of dance has opened doors to enriching opportunities to curate my own choreography and teach creative movement classes to underprivileged children. While I am not dancing, you can find me trying new restaurants with friends, perfecting my pie baking skills, or golfing with my family (fore!).
I am excited to fulfill my first digital internship experience with ROOT3. I am looking forward to positively contributing to the team and learning more about B2B marketing and how ROOT3 is using digital tactics to distribute important content and communications, especially during this pandemic.

Hello, I’m Ryan Burger, rising Wake Forest University Senior. At Wake Forest, I am a Business & Enterprise Management major with a Marketing Concentration, and work as a wilderness guide.
In my spare time, you can find me in the kitchen working on my next culinary project (home-fermented hot sauce and sourdough are on-deck) or out in the woods bouldering with friends. I dedicate a few hours each night to listen to my stereo, and start every morning with a pour-over coffee. Post-graduation, I plan to work in the marketing and advertising space in Chicago, seeing as I’ve grown up in the area and can’t think of anywhere else I would rather be working.
I am especially excited this summer to be confronting head-on the challenge of a remote, digital internship and learning how to adapt the conventional intern-in-the-office learning experience to our current situation. We may be living in strange times, but I have faith that this will be an excellent chance to grow as a person and a worker.
